Homemade oils, creams and other products can be just as luxurious and fragrant as anything you can buy at the store. As a bonus, they're simple to make, can save you a ton of money, and are much more natural and eco-friendly than conventional products. Most beauty and personal care products contain phthalates, formaldehyde, parabens or other chemicals that have been linked to reproductive, neurological and endocrine problems. Not exactly beautiful, huh? While most of my personal care products are still commercially made, I've been experimenting with some beauty care recipes and wanted to share three of my favorites with you. Packaged in lovely reusable bottles, these make decadent gifts for anyone you want to indulge.
Eye Make-Up Remover/Moisturizing Eye Oil
I use this one daily for removing eye make-up, including waterproof mascara, and I love how it gently removes everything and nourishes the eye area at the same time. It's full of antioxidants and has a luxurious, relaxing scent. Take care not to get it IN your eyes though!
Soothing Clay Mask
I use this once a week to draw out toxins and impurities in my skin. The recipe is based on one I learned at a natural spa on the island of Dominica.
Relaxing Linen Spray

These recipes sound great! Where do you buy your bentonite?
Thanks Robin! I like http://www.mountainroseherbs.com for all my supplies.
Great post. I was wondering where you can buy these kinds of ingredients too.
I've had great luck with these two natural deodorants:

I've been wearing one or the other consistently for months, and I smell lovely! =)
Thanks Rebekah! I'll check those out!
A friend clued me in to using olive oil as a facial moisturizer. Just a little goes a long way = and no, you don't smell like the oil :). Love the blog and wonderful suggestions.
These are great! I love the clay masque ingredients. Sounds heavenly. Thanks for sharing. I am going to the store tonight so I am going to have to pick up a few extra items. :)
Love the pillow spray idea! I make something similar to use on plane flights for relaxation & also as a disinfectant to try to avoid catching a cold!! :)

Your spray sounds lovely Amanda! Thanks for sharing!
Roberta -- Olive oil is a fabulous moisturizer, though I've never used it on my face (just body). I'll try it. Thanks!
It's better if your spa products are homemade. Aside from it will save you a lot of money, you will be sure that the ingredients used are all natural. The best part is, you get to choose what ingredients you will use that will best fits your needs.
